Do you need a Tennessee license for this job?

Primes and owners check the license before they read anything else. Pick your role, trade and value and see what the state requires, in the Board's own terms.

Nashville's build cycle, and who reads your bid profile

On the big programs, your first reader is rarely the owner. It is the prime's preconstruction team.

Questions Nashville contractors ask

How do contractors win work on Nashville's big projects?

Most large Nashville projects are led by a prime or a joint venture, such as the Turner, AECOM Hunt, Polk and Associates and ICF Builders team on the new Nissan Stadium, so specialty firms usually win work through the prime's bid lists. Those primes and public owners check completed work by building type, safety record, licensing, bonding and certifications before they invite a bid, so the firm's public record has to show all of it.

Do I need a Tennessee contractor license?

For projects of $25,000 or more, yes: a license from the Tennessee Board for Licensing Contractors before you bid, offer or negotiate a price, as a prime, a construction manager or a consultant. Electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC and roofing subcontractors need one when their portion is $25,000 or more, and masonry subcontractors at $100,000. Residential remodels from $3,000 to $24,999 need a Home Improvement license with a $10,000 bond, but only in counties that adopted the law, including Davidson, Rutherford and Robertson; Williamson, Sumner and Wilson are not on the list.

Will an out-of-state developer check our Tennessee license?

Expect it. Owners and primes check the license and its monetary limit before they invite a bid, and the limit is generally the lesser of ten times working capital or ten times net worth. Put the license number, classification and limit on your website and in every bid profile, so the check takes seconds.

What is Metro Nashville's Equal Business Opportunity program?

It is Metro's program for minority- and women-owned business participation. Its fiscal year 2025 report set construction goals of 13% for minority-owned and 12% for women-owned businesses and recorded about 3% utilization for each, with goals set project by project. Certified firms that state their certification clearly are easier for primes to find.

Is Nashville construction still growing?

The pipeline is large: the new Nissan Stadium, a $2.1 billion project, is scheduled for completion in February 2027; the airport's New Horizon program, about $3 billion, runs to 2029; and Choose How You Move, a $3.1 billion program, launched $163 million of projects in its first year. Mining, logging and construction jobs in the Nashville area were 65.6 thousand in August 2026, down from 67.4 thousand a year earlier, per the Bureau of Labor Statistics, so crews are as scarce as the work is plentiful.

What results can you show for contractors?

None from Nashville yet; we are based in Chicago. In search, one Chicago developer went to 33.1K Google impressions within a quarter, a 693% jump, and clicks doubled to 480. Our own domain holds an average national Google position of 3.0 for construction advertising agency.

What does construction marketing cost with TERAMOK?

Search work starts at $3,000 a month, and paid campaigns or social media at $3,500 a month, with ad spend passed through at cost. A contractor website starts at $25,000, project film at $15,000 and brand identity at $25,000, all on the published rate sheet. Our Chicago lead guarantee covers Chicago trades only, so it does not apply in Nashville.

Do you have Nashville contractor clients?

Not ones we can publish yet, and we will not imply otherwise. TERAMOK is headquartered in Chicago and serves Nashville nationally; we photographed downtown Nashville ourselves in September 2026, and our crew travels for production.
